The SICC RESP Match Fund is a contribution-matching grant designed to reduce barriers to education savings and support low-income families in building a brighter future for their children. By matching RESP contributions, we help families take meaningful steps toward post-secondary education—one dollar at a time.
Too many families face systemic barriers that make saving for education difficult. While programs like the Canada Learning Bond exist, participation remains low, and many children are left without the financial foundation they need for future learning.
We believe every child deserves the opportunity to dream, plan, and succeed. The SICC RESP Match Fund addresses this gap by:
Reducing financial barriers to saving
Encouraging early and consistent education investment
Empowering families as active agents in their children’s future
The SICC RESP Match Fund supports families at every step of their education savings journey—no matter how much they are able to contribute.
Make a contribution: Families contribute any amount to their child’s Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP). There is no minimum contribution required to be eligible.
Matching grant: SICC provides a dollar-for-dollar match on RESP contributions, up to a maximum of $250 per eligible RESP account per year, subject to fund availability.
Full vs. partial match:
Contributions of $500 or more may qualify for the maximum grant of $250
Contributions of less than $500 will receive a proportional (partial) matching grant
Families only need to apply once—enrollment is automatically renewed each year
Families must submit proof of RESP contributions by March 31 each year to receive the annual matching grant. To ensure fair and timely distribution of funds, late submissions cannot be processed. We encourage families to submit early as grants will be disbursed on a first-come-first-served basis.
The SICC RESP Match Fund is currently available to:
Parents or guardians of Grade One students
Families who have a balance of $4000 or less on their child’s RESP account
Households that are currently receiving the Canada Learning Bond (CLB)
Note: Applicants may be asked to provide supporting documents to confirm eligibility.
What makes SICC unique is how this fund is built. The RESP Match Fund is powered by people:
Students lead fundraising through the Social Spark Challenge
Families organize their own community-driven initiatives
Community partners and sponsors contribute to expanding the fund
Together, we are creating a movement—where communities invest in their own children’s futures.
The SICC RESP Match Fund is not just financial support—it’s a catalyst for change. Through participation, families and students:
Build lifelong saving habits
Develop a sense of agency and possibility
Become part of a growing network of changemakers
Take the first step toward your child’s education future.
